The Gates of Arcadia Monumental Bronze Gates by John Battenberg |
"The Gates of Arcadia" is a five-year project commissioned in 1998 by a collector in Arizona. The gates, pictured below, are for the pedestrian entryway to a private residence. Each gate is eight feet tall by seven feet wide and weighs approximately three tons. The total opening is fourteen feet. The facings are patinaed, cast aluminum, mounted on steel frames. "The Gates" are divided into two parts, "The Procession" and "The March".
Due to the enormity and uniqueness of this project, it has been set up to be a "separate experience" from the rest of the Battenberg Studios Website. By clicking on the Battenberg Studios link on any page you will be returned to the introduction page of the main website. So, grab the beverage of your choice, sit down, relax and explore "The Gates of Arcadia". It is recommended that you start at "The Procession". |
